Story

The 2nd String Quartet, composed in 2011, is harmonically more "modern" than my 1st String Quartet but still rooted in late romantic period and early 20th century musical tonality. I enjoy dissonance only as a means to an end, a resolution.

The four movements are all quite different, although the thematic material of the final movement is taken from the opening of the first. This ties the work together as a whole.

Once again, I was fortunate to have outstanding musicians to learn and record this piece- Michael Fan and Rose Todaro on violins, Joseph Pagan on viola, and Anne Gratz playing cello.
