The second movement of my 2nd Symphony is a short piece with a lot of rhythmic momentum, which is finally broken and melts into a passionate short release before returning to the march-like main theme. The melodic idea possessed me for a whole day before I could figure out what to do with it. Once I started writing, it just took over! This energetic, almost sardonic movement makes a good contrast to the surrounding, more passionate and introspective movements.
It is scored for normal, modern symphony orchestra.
